A little contemplation

Well, recently I've been thinking a little more about where my training is going in the next few years and what my aims are. It's becoming more and more likely that I'll make a transition to strongman. The only obstacle right now is a lack of equipment for use. Paul and I have been chatting a lot about things and hopefully it won't be long before we'll have a few bits and pieces that will be useful in terms of more specific strongman training.

Over the summer I'm hoping to get up to Donegal and supplement my training with some stone lifting on the beach up there. Should be good in terms of getting used to lifting awkward objects and gaining a bit more functional strength. Besides that it will be a good laugh.

I totally forgot to mention I received my schedule for next year. Third year consists of mainly placement. Mine is as follows:

OPH1 Royal Victoria Week 05 (28 Sept)
OPH2 Royal Victoria Week 06 (5 Oct)
NS Royal Victoria Week 07 (12 Oct)
END Royal Victoria Week 09 (26 Oct)
HAEM Belfast City Week 10 (2 Nov)
DERM Royal Victoria Week 11 (9 Nov)
NEPH Belfast City Week 12 (16 Nov)
MS Musgrave Park Week 14 (30 Nov)
ENT Royal Victoria Week 20 (25 Jan)
GS Altnagelvin Week 22 (8 Feb)
GM Altnagelvin Week 29 (12 Apr)

I think I got pretty lucky with my placements. All in Belfast, apart from Altnagelvin. I plan on moving to Derry for my placement in Altnagelvin and living in the student accomodation at the hospital. Means I'll need to find a good gym over there! A couple of my mates are from Derry and they are on placement there at the same time as I am, so I'm sure they can show me the ropes and recommend a few gyms.

That's it for now. I haven't got much time to write seeing as I really should be getting to bed as I have a load of studying to do tomorrow.

Thought for the Day:
